Experience at IIT Madras MS Written 2014

So Guys,this is the post where I will be telling you about the IIT Madras MS written pattern in July Intake 2014.

Note: This information presented here in true as per 2014 pattern. This may or may not change in upcoming years.

1st paper was the Objective type and 30 Multiple choice questions were there.You have to choose the right answer among 4 options given.There was no negative marking.Time duration was 60 mins. It was mix of Aptitude & Reasoning (probability, English,percentages,ratio proportion,seating arrangement,progressions), Algorithm,C etc. the question were easy and very basic.

2nd paper was just after 15 mins break.It was subjective pape.15 or 20 questions were given (sorry, dont exactly remember). and you have to answer any 10. The majority topics were Computer Networks,Discrete Maths,TOC, Algorithms and Data Structures.

some questions which I can recall are :

1) Explain Framing Methods (Networks)

2) Explain Go back N Protocol with diagrams etc.

3)Some binary tree was given and show the binary tree after deletion of some node.diagram whole process.(Algo and DS)

4) prove or disprove RE languages are closed under complementation(TOC)

5) Designing of Counter.

The process of screening was 1st you have to clear the objective paper then your subjective paper will be checked,otherwise you are out. I did subjective very good and objective like ok. But I was rejected.

There was a session for Computer Science MS on 14th may for those guys who had Election in their place on 12th may.They got shifted schedule after bugging the CSE dept of IITM.The bugging things is like that there were General elections 2014 in some places of West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh.So students from these places started replying to mail,which was sent to them by CSE dept of IITM,requesting the date to be shifted to at least 14 may. Some students sent mail saying that they have some relatives marriage,no train ticket available etc( can you believe it?? ). IITM CSE dept decided to shift the date to 14th may for those candidate ,who were from the places where the general elections are to be held with condition that they have to show their voting card to attend the written. I have no idea about Marriage,Train ticket not available. 😀
